Topic: [SOLVED] Wicd shows "Connected to 'mynetwork' at ??%..."

edit:  Oh yea, first post here, hello everyone big_smile

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic (beta)

Wicd shows "Connected at ??%..." at the bottom of the main settings window and when the pointer hovers over the tray icon (although it shows the correct signal strength next to each network in the settings window)
Just compiled the latest wicd (1.6.2.2) and the issue persists.  Not a big deal, but if anyone knows which .py file (or files) to look at to see maybe why this is happening it would be much appreciated smile

Here's a screetshot showing what I mean:

Re: [SOLVED] Wicd shows "Connected to 'mynetwork' at ??%..."

Wild guess here:

You're using a Broadcom card with the drivers installed from the driver manager in Ubuntu?

The reason you get ?? is because the card isn't reporting signal strength correctly, so Wicd can't read it. It displays ?? instead. Try going to preferences and then switching Wicd to use dBm to measure signal strength.

Good guess, and thanks for the help.  Initially, setting the signal strength to dBm would cause wicd to constantly disconnect/reconnect.  However, I changed the backend from 'external' to 'ioctl', and PROBLEM SOLVED big_smile

Here's a screenshot of it working correctly:
